Drivers' Side Seat

Hey all..

I have been noticing an annoying thing about the drivers side seat...it seems to wiggle every time I sit in it...really annoying with stick since every time I put the clutch in, the seat rock forward...anyone know an easy fix?? Or maybe a fix at all?? I unbolted my seat a lil while ago to put my neons underneath, but made sure all the bolts were tightened again...any help would be appreciated!

Well, I got the car back today from the dealer as a result of taking it in for the drivers' seat rock...good news: they established a problem, will be fixed under warranty....bad news: didn't have the parts that they needed to fix...they have been ordered and I just have to bring the car back and have them do it when the parts come in...but overall, I am very pleased!

Yup, head on over to HONDA and they'll Jimmy rig it for you like they did to mine...4 TIMES!!!! POS seat was poorly built on certain models, you got one like me. Prepare for a wiggly seat FOREVER!!! There are countless complaints and threads on this. HONDA has a TSB that reccommends bushings. This'll make the problem seem less but will not completely fix it. I spoke directly with HONDA on this after threataning litigation and they claim it is a design flaw on the car. According to the countless lawyers I've spoken to there is no way out of this BS!

I have a 02 sedan.

My seat has always rocked just a tad from time to time. Really was barely noticeable and only happened on a rare occasion.

Now, the darn thing is moving all the f-in time! Feels like it is mainly the back of the seat that is moving. Like 2hottie I have a 5spd so I feel it all the time. Dayum, it is bothering the hay out of me...

I guess I am going in for my first warrranty repair..

They're teflon bushings that they stick in your seat mount points to cushion the seat - problem is that they wear out to damned fast. Been through 5 sets of them myself. Face it - the Civic was designed for skinny Asian kids... not us fat white boys. The bushings are about the size of a quarter, and come individually wrapped in clear plastic baggies with orange Honda writing and part #s on it. 4 per seat.

My final say on it - bah.

I'm FINALLY getting used to the sensation of starting to be propelled through the windshield whenever I stop hard.

Joy.

I seems to me that Honda have really cut corners with bushings, bearings and suspension on this 7 gen Civic. Infact all the parts people can't see are of poor quality.

I agree, I have an 02 EX Coupe and the seat constantly rocks back and forth. I've gotten used to it so it's no big deal, but the damn thing is brand new! That just peevs me. I bought a HONDA for it's reliability, but so far it's the little things that are bugging the crap out of me that my FORD never did. Oh well, I'll just get Si seats...they're better anyway.

BTW, I put seat covers on my front seats and now my SRS light is constantly on. WTF! Dealer says it's the covers that are messing with the side air bags...BS! Why would they sell covers that mess with SRS. Any ideas?

sorphin

untill i read the TBS things, i thought my seat rockin was just because of my big **** sitting on it lolol. luckily its not. i didnt notice till recently that my 02 lx coupe seat was rocking. and i do believe the same thing happens with mine over a bump..a bad bump sends me flying in the air and a squeaky sound when i land back on my seat lol. now ive noticed part of the side on my drivers seat is coming undone...i can see the yellowish-foam padding from inside it...if anybody knows what i mean lol.

I have all the "defects" with my car except this one, which I am very surprised I don't have. Maybe because I don't weigh enough to feel it? (I'm a girl and only 5'1)

That would be my guess. I am 6 foot and wiegh 230. I guess I put a little more stress on the seat.
