Rep Power: 255 must have really good tires then to not discharge all that static electrisity. Maybe you should take a wire, and ground it somewhere in your car, then everytime you want to get out. Just throw the other end (wire exposed) out the window and try and hit sometihng metal. Then get out and see if it shocks you :-D he he he... actually ive had no problems with it since i changes my rims and tires. that i have noticed.

Rep Power: 335 LOL. It hasn't been an issue for me lately, because it's been humid, so I haven't been having the problem. However, once the air gets a little more dry then it'll start zapping me again. It gets to the point where I use my forearm to touch the door instead of my hands. I still get shocked, but it's easier to take it in the arm.

Rep Power: 359 so the only thing to do is grab a grounding strap and drag it across the ground, what about all the other grouding things for the engine , do those do anyhting at all?

Adding myself to the pile
I have had this car for 2 years and finally decided to figure out why I am getting shocked like hell this winter. It does it all year round as I am in SoCal and it's pretty dry year round. I'll try the window frame before getting out thing today.
I noticed that all gas stations have a sign saying not to get in your car while fueling. Now I know why.
I'm crossing my fingers on this solution !!!!

Should be an easy fix
If the holding-the-window-frame-while-getting-out thing does not work, I'll try the rubber floormats thing.
My 1994 Celica made it to 254k+ miles before dying. I'm hoping for the same out of my Honda. If I can get this shock thing under control I'll be much happier with my little silver bullet!
I'll post tomorrow with an update on this crazy Civic quirk.

Changing seats prolly won't help ...

Reading these threads it seems the carpet is the shock builder; not the seats.
I have adopted the "Left-hand-on-the-metal-window-frame" while getting out.
I haven't been shocked once since getting out of the car like this.
Thx for all the great info.

Hell yeah my *** get shocked all the dam time..You know what i think it might be the weather. I started noticing this every winter i guess when its really cold and you have nice warm air in your car and your feet moving all over the place when shifting is the cause for this......What I do WHEN i remember is thouch the door panel to ground myself and then I'm good to go. just a little method i use
