-Trim the rear bumper
-Lower the exhaust
-Get a new bumper with a higher cut out
-Try getting some insulation, or put something ceramic in between the exhaust and the bumper

Just get some lower hangers. I bet you'll notice a major difference if you lower it even 1/4" from the bumper. Those things get pretty hot. That's what my suggestion is - just lower it by a 1/4-1/2" and you should see a major difference.

if you can devise a thin sheet of aluminum (avail @ hdwr stores) to hang between the two it will act as a heat shield.

heat should not be a problem on an open system as much....

I had the same problem. I purchased an OBX B3 Bomb catback exhaust, sounds great by the way, and the brackets were too short so when it was installed, it touched my bumper and started to melt it. This is what I did, went to meineke muffler and had them adjust the hooks on the muffler to hang down lower. Unfortunately, with my any exhaust, the brackets could only go so far down before the piping would hit my sway bar and was just barely touching my bumper and when idling, I heard a terrible vibrating. To fix that, I just got a buch of twisty ties and you can put many of them together to make one big one. There is a hole right in that arch above your exhaust and I strung the ties through that and there is what I guess is part of the frame that I strung the twisty ties through and I tightened the twisty ties until the arch was high enough to where my bumper wouldn't touch my exhuast and make that annoying noise. To this day they still hold my bumper above my exhaust and I haven't had that vibrating noise yet. Hope this helps you with your problem.

when i got my dc sports exhaust, i asked a question about tips and they said id have to lower it, just get a torch(with the exhaust off the car), and heat it to red and pull the hanger away from the exhaust, this will lower it, you might want to put it on and off a few times if youre a perfectionist like me, but its all for the better.
