Problems with paint on front bumper, please give me advice.

Okay, I bought my 2001 CIVIC LX with 7200 miles on it about four months ago. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the paint.

Anyway, I noticed a couple of days ago that the front bumper, just under the lower grill was starting to peel away. I took it to Honda and they stated that it had been repainted. I took it to an Acura dealer and they also said that it had been repainted. After looking over my car, the Acura dealer noticed what he called "trash" in the rear bumper and front bumper clear coat, indicating that the front and rear bumpers had both been repainted. I took it back to CarMax where I bought the car and talked with the "After Sales Manager" and he said that he would have their touchup guy come in and repaint the front bumper (only where the paint is peeling) and wet sand the rear bumper and respray it. The catch though is that he won't take apart the front bumper to do the job right which will probably end up in the same thing happening. And the rear bumper, I don't really care about as long as it doesn't start peeling too. It looks fine, but I don't want the front bumper to start peeling again because of another crappy tape and paint job.

What can I do? Who should I talk to? Please help.

So the car has under 36k and its less than 3 yrs old???? Why isn't it covered? I don't know... does the warranty not transfer over or something? Or are they saying that because it was repainted, the warranty doesn't apply? Either way, that sucks... Just get a body kit...

I've heard people on this site complaining about the same thing and thier car wasn't in a accident. I wonder if it was fixed under warrenty by the previous owner, and the dealer didn't do a very good job. I'd try to find out about the car history, because if it was fixed under warrenty before Honda should fix it again.

It seems that the place that sold my car to me just did a crappy job touching up the paintjob to make it look decent. They offered to repaint it for me (the same way that they painted it before) and I didn't like that. So, I'm trying to find a consumer lawyer in the area to figure out my rights.

if the paint job was so bad that it's now peeling, try making the rest of the paint also peel off so they have to repaint the entire bumper....

yea, that would be a good idea, but according to all the websites with information about stuff like this, they say to talk to a consumer lawyer, because if a consumer tries to get it taken care of himself, they may get less than what they are legally supposed to get. SO, I have to find some lawyer that will talk to me.

Anybody know one in the DFW area?
