A/C too cold?
A/C too cold?
Last night me and my friend were riding around in my 7th gen civic and the air vents seem to be producing a lot of percipitation. Eventually the radio quit working but then started working two hours after i turned my a/c off....could the water have caused my radio to stop working? And are 7th gens suppose to be producing soo much percipitation? (It runs down the dash) Mabe its the hot humid weather down here in south texas.
Any help on this problem will be appreciated.

Do you have the windows down or cracked or the sunroof open with the A/C on? If not use the "recirculate" button because whats happening is that the outside air is so humid your A/C system is working to pull the humidity out of the air. Thats all a A/C unit does is remove humidity out of the air, once the humidity is removed from the inside of the car that shouldn't happen, so you need to stop the outside humid air from entering the car by having the windows rolled up and the recirculate button on.
This is the only thing thats causing your problem, as far as your radio goes, unless condensation is building up under the dash and shorting out your radio, I don't know.

I usually have the moonroof open.....the reason i keep the a/c on no matter if the windows are up or down is because the factory radio has a problem with heating up my cd's and not being able to play them when they get hot. Thank you for the info.

Its because he had the sunroof open, if its a real humid night and you have the A/C blowing full blast with the recirculate button off its going to happen. It normally only happens at night and the conditions have to be right. Read the above posts.

ok, 1, its a waste to have your ac on and have the windows open, youre wasting the extra gas it takes to run the as compressor, plus youre loosing that power.
2. i pesonally tink the ac should be cooler, i find it takes a good 10 mins to get COOL, and never really gets cold. ive measured a 92 or so taurus (in auto shop @ a VoTech) at about 52 degrees, i think mine only gets down to about 70. but anyway.
3, im glad i dont live in that area of the country, im in pa an its hot enough up here.
just my $.02

what i meant was that when the ac is on you usually need to apply more gas to get going, especially w/ stick. that uses more gas. and i still cant see the point in keeping the car vented while the ac is on. th only time i do that is when i first turn it on, that way the heat rises and escapes the car, then i seal'er up.

i really don't notice that my car accelerates much slower, but i do notive a difference in shifting. when the a/c is on i find it harder to rev the engine freely. it seems that the engine is not as responsive i.e. when i have to blip the throttle on a downshift. i think that it's due to more driveline drag with the compressor engaged. i don't know that's my $.02. does anyone else notice this?
