keychain remote stopped working- anyone know how to reprogram it?
One of my keychain remotes stopped working. The batteries are ok and the light lights up when the button is pushed. It stopped working while it was in my pocket. I think it became unprogrammed somehow. When I bought the car, they couldnt find the remotes, so they gave me new ones and they reprogrammed them for my car right there in just a few seconds. Unfortunately I wasnt paying attention. he did something with the ignition or something to program them. I would like to try this first myself, my dealer in an hour away.

I think your owners manual might help you, I'm not sure though, I'm at work right now but I have a 2002 Civic service manual at home, I'll check it out and try to tell you Saturday if you haven't figured it out by then.

Thanks solar. I looked in the owners manual but it said to take it to the dealer. Like I said before, I watched the saleman program them right there in front of me. Im sure it is a simple procedure. I think he did something with the radio but I dont remember. It was a year ago.

Okay I found out how to program it, its pretty long so you might want to print it out. First though, have you tryed the second remote the dealer gave you, because if that works then your other remote is bad.
I'll type it out exactly how it reads in the service manual.
It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure all the doors and trunk are closed.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll)
2. Within 1 to 4 seconds, push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the reciever (radio) in the center of the dash.
3. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Within 1 to 4 seconds push the transmitter lock or unlock button aimed at the radio.
6. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition switch ON.
8. Within 1 to 4 seconds push the transmitter lock or unlock button aimed at the radio.
9. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF.
10. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition ON.
11. Within 1 to 4 seconds push the transmitter lock or unlock button aimed at the radio.
12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators. Within 1 to 4 seconds push the transmitter lock or unlock button again.
13. Within 10 seconds; aim the transmitters (up to two additional ones) whose codes you want to store at the reciever, and press the lock or unlock buttons at the radio. Confirm that you can hear the doors lock.
14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and pull out the key.
15. Confirm proper operation of the transmitter.
NOTE: Make sure you follow all the steps correctly or you'll have to start all over
If this works you owe me a LOL.

You can't order the manual on-line, you have to "dig" thru the website and get the phone number, the manual is around $80 with shipping.
