I say this becasue of experiance, I was a mechanic for 10 years. Besides it takes a lot to puncture a vacuum hose but a open wire is very easy to catch and fray a few strands of wire.

Rep Power: 0 bottom line is, it doesn't add functionality, on a more expensive car you might expect insulation on ground wires (because it looks nice, prevents corrosion chafing etc), but on an economy car functionality is king.
