Now to the real question that was asked by RON. EX Civics "might" have more problems in general than a LX only because the EX model has more options than the LX does, so the odds of a car with more options will in general have more than a car with fewer problems . But all in all the Civic is a great car!! Don't let anyone who has had a few problems with there car tell you any different, (Here comes the bashers by the way, and you'll see them) you have bought a wonderfully built car that will give you may miles of enjoyment. If your not having any problems with your car I would advise you to stay away from this part of the Forums, the bashers will give you a headache and maybe a laugh.
Just watch

I agree SOLAR! I know the civic is a great car, I was just curious if problems were model related.....what about the MFG site my car was made in OHIO and no problems.......what about the other MFG. sites
I would say the only extra problem of the EX are sunroof rattles, which most cars dont have. Mine rattles a little but I blame that on the terrible pavement of Mexico City.
As far as the other problems, probably the same. For me the biggest problem are all the interior rattles, my engine works perfect.

i have a LX and i have had no problems whatsoever. besides the rattling, which i fix by just turning up my radio louder..
i have had this car for almost a year and no problems yet (knock on wood). i didn't buy the civic because i thought that i wouldn't have any problems with it ever. a car will have problems. I bought the civic because they are dependable, reliable, get good gas mileage, and it only costs me 13.00 to fill up my tank. and i can drive about 400+ miles on one tank. ANother reason that i bought my car was because of the aftermarket products, but that was jsut a slight influence. if i wanted a fast car, i would not have bought a civic. i like my car, the way it performs, with and without the mods. i wouldn't change it for anything, unless someone hits it and totals it, then i will get something faster, like a v8 something.....but thats the only time i will get rid of it.....
but thats just my opinion...no problems, just a good, decent, dependable, non-expensive car.

I am not bashing Honda I think they make great cars thats why I bought one Iam just saying that when people think this is a well built car I want to know what they are comparing it to. I bought a Honda so that Ididnt have these little problems granted there not major problems but they are un-exceptable considering Honda reputation other wise why didnt we all buy Chevy Cavaliers??
look in consumer reports magazine. They have an auto issue every year and they rate how reliable cars are based on people that own them sending in information and things like that. I looked and it appears to me that Honda Civic is very reliable

You have to consider the type of people that buy honda civic,s , geeks and street racers, and older people, street racers and older people don,t reply to consumer reports question,s. cause they don,t give a ****...ymmmmmm you do the math.....ymmmmmmmmm.

Actually, geeks and street racers are not the people that buy 80-90% of civics. Most civics are bought by people 35 and older. It's just a car that a lot of young people have/are using as street racers. Also, I'd bet the trust fund that 99% of the people who do respond to CR's surveys are 35 and older. Afterall, you must consider who buys and reads consumer reports. How many street racers do you think subscribe to CR? The people who do care are the ones that respond.
I don't think the 7th gen vics are nearly as bad as some would have you believe. However, there is no question that they are not as good as the previous generations.

Yeah I think that no matter what kind of engine you get in your car the problems are no bigger or littler then any other civic just if you bought the very first run of civics you may have more problems then the ones that came out in 2002. But yeah 2003 should look better but who knows

The way I look at it is... a car can be as reliable as the owner is in reliable and protective in maintanence.
Just no.
The 01's had several design problems.
Honda fixed most of these for the 02 model year.
Most of us who had satan civics got rid of them by the 6-8000 mile mark anyway, so maintainence wasn't even IN the equation.
Personally mine had 6800 on it and I had changed the oil 3 times.
Here is an example:
I had a jeep that continuously fell apart despite a superperfect maintainece routine. and by superperfect I mean far above what people normally do. at 72k it had 2 autotranny fluid changes, diff oil changes, belts, hoses, plugs, flushed coolant, running mobil 1 every 3k, waxed, engine bay you could eat out of. I mean f-ing BABIED....
It was the biggest POS it broke every 3rd week or so.
AND MY 01 CIVIC WAS WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That may be the most blatantly, ridiculously, asinine statement I have yet to see on this board.

My car was babied from the day I bought it. The car wasn't built well so there were defects. It has nothing to do with the way the car was treated. My car got an oil change every 5,000 miles and was never driven hard. Well it is now but that only started after I filed suit against Honda. There is no reason to baby the car at this point. Even with all maintance done on time and a car being babied there are going to be those cars that have MAJOR defects.
