Cargo net
Cargo net
Am I the only one dissatisfied with the civic cargo net? Specifically, the fact that one must remove the floor mounts to access the spare tire. Does anyone know if Honda is going to modify the design and/or provide a fix? I really don't like having holes drilled in my trunk floor. I recently removed the mounts and can not re-install them due to rust. I plan on bitching out the dealer next week.

I was thinking of getting the cargo net, until I saw how they install the hooks.
Besides, the cargo net only adds 0.3 horspower

Maybe I don't have enough info on your problem, let me know.
Cargo net was installed by the dealer. I have an EX, but the cargo net only comes standard on EX coupes. Dealer installed cargo nets are achored by an annoying bolt/rubber mount which needs to be removed to access the spare tire. I have no rust on the floor, but the bolt/rubber mount is rusted to the point that it needs replacement. No, I dont have a lot of flat tires, but I keep tools, jumper cables, etc in the spare tire compartment.

Re: Cargo net
Hello everyone, I just joined the club.
On our 2002 Civic Coupe EX, we have a cargo net. It has the (2) mounts on the left and right walls to hold the new up. It also has the (2) mounts below them on the removable floor. There are also (2) more mounts on the floor more towards the rear of the car, towards the license plate.
While I was fooling around with the net yesterday, I noticed that there is a second rope that goes through the upper part of the net. I could not for the life of me figure out how it attaches because it does have the rounded loops on the ends but it seems to be a lot shorter then the other rope. Or is it supposed to mount at all? What actually started all of this was that the longer rope that actually holds the net up has been coming off of the mounts. So I started trying to figure out how everything works and where they go. This is when I noticed the second rope going through the top slot. Is there more then one set up for this net, meaning can you mount the bottom angled towards the rear of the car more, are you supposed to use that other rope that goes through the top slot of the net? Are the bottom rear mounts supposed to be used for anything?
Just trying to figure out the correct way to use this net.
Thanks, Kielbasa
