Taking my car in for service... Do I Get a Loaner car?
Scheduled for Tuesday... The probs I have should be under warranty, but they said it'll prob have to stay overnight... So I'm wondering if the dealer should give me a car or not? Or should I DEMAND one?
They usually tell you (and have you sign something saying) that they don't give loaner cars when you bought it, they may also have signs posted..... but, if they didn't tell them you want one if they have to keep it overnight. A little bitching and moaning never hurts in any case, especially if there are other customers around.

The dealer told me I would get a loaner if they had to keep it overnight. I'm gonna drop it off in the morning so they have the maximum amount of time to finish the work. Mine's goin' into the shop on Tuesday as well. (checking struts, front power windows, 30K mile service).

You can try and argue and make a big scene but they probably won't give you one. They had my car for four days and refused to give me a loaner but some older lady came in and they offered her one. Go figure.
Try calling the actual sales department and explain your situation to the sales manager. That usualy works. The SERVICE DEPARTMENT just want you IN and OUT, they don't want to worry about your problems. If you call the SALES MANAGER and tell him your situation they'll usually hook you up. But HONDA dealers can be pretty insensitive - GOOD LUCK. As long as the car is in for more than you expected or they have inconvenienced you in any way in terms of cause you to be late for work etc.. etc ... If they have to order a part or something you should be able to fight the SALES DEPARTMENT for a loaner car.
I have been able to get a loaner car in a lot of situations just by telling the SALES MANAGER that the SERVICE DEPARTMENT has inconvenienced me of made me late for work. But, be prepared to be put in a beat up ACCORD with NO BRAKES!!!

most of the time loaners are insurence stuff.... the only time you get loaner is if the dealership actually has their own loaner vehicles....and i do think you have to be over 20 sumthing to be eligable for a loaner from the dealership

I've gotten rentals from the dealership when my car would be there only for the afternoon, and that's just becuase I requested one. Don't demand it, but be persistent if you are TRULY GOING TO BE INCONVENIENCED because your car is gone.
Even if the dealership uses an outside company (i.e. ENTERPRISE) they will still give you one, but not all the time. Don't expect it, but it never hurts to ask...

I guess that's the nice thing about my dealer, i'm a "prefered customer", so that means, any repair/work that takes > 2 hours, or whatever, i get a loaner (one of the porter cars).. already done it once when they replaced my spoiler that was scratched up when they delivered the car...

Looks like I'm gettin' a loner car tonight. They didn't have the parts they needed. They were out of loaner cars, so they're gettin' me an Enterprise rental.

ACK! Toyota Corrola. No CD player, no power windows, squealing tires if you turn at more than 5 mph, and the worst: NO CUPHOLDERS.
