what does it mean when the brakes squeel? Is it time to replace the brake pad or is it normal. I have about 15k miles and it just started doin it when i brake pretty hard.

It's a built-in brakepad feature to tell you that your pads are getting thin. But it seems kinda early for your pads to be so worn out. Are you tough on your brakes?

But it could also just be rust or dirt on your rotors. Get a free inspection... most brake shops will give you one.

I think that brakes last around 15k typically. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Well, my accord had 30k and the brakes were still fine.

If you drive normally, I think brakes should last way longer than 15k miles. I'm approaching 15k now, and I still have plenty of pad left, according to my recent brake servicing job.

But if you drive with a lead foot, then that's a different story ...
