2005 civic EX p2646/engine failure?

Hello, my car developed a knocking noise around 3500 rpm when accelerating. This developed to a constant knocking noise and loss of power. The sounds the engine made were horrendous leading me to believe it has been blown. I found a p2646 code. Where is the rocker arm actuator? Could this be lack or oil to the valvetrain?

Sounds like valve train issue, are you thinking of trying a repair yourself?

One or more rocker arms are sticking, that’s what the problem code is, but it’s caused by either a faulty rocker actuator (pretty much an oil pressure sensor), sludge built up around the actuator causing it to send faulty signals to the ECM, sludge stuck to the rockers causing them to get stuck in the wrong position, low oil, or the wrong oil viscosity. But to simply everything CHECK YOUR OIL FIRST BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO A SHOP!

How bad is the knock? Like a Gremlin with a sledgehammer?

Did you let it run out of oil......NOW it knocks?

The VTEC code can set when oil pressure is lost....typically due to low oil level.....but if rod/crank bearings are wiped out causing the deep bottom end knock, vtec probably won't have enough hydraulic pressure to operate no matter if the level is full or not.
