Shicka-Shicka
Shicka-Shicka
2001 LX 160K
Civic has recently started transmission slipping when it gets warmed up and anything over 10 miles. In addition to that, its been making a shicka-shicka sound , moving or stationary, I'm assuming from the transmission
Anybody have an idea if this fixable, or should I just plan on a new transmission? Didnt know if the sound is a telltale sign of a specific problem..

Re: Shicka-Shicka
If you said you did not have the slipping in gears, I would have suggested to check any of the pulleys on the belts such as A/C, PS and alternator, and also the TB tensioner. Can you use an auto stethoscope to pinpoint the noise?
When was the timing belt, water pump and tensioner replaced last?
Unfortunately, if you have slipping while changing gears, it's not looking good for the transmission.

Re: Shicka-Shicka
After I run for 10 minutes or more, it generally seems to slip after auto shifting in 2nd to 3rd, I believe, moreso if I'm aggressive with the gas. Once it gets bad, it slips in all gears and I cant even move at all. Ive found that I can almost 'reset' if I put it in park, turn the car off an start it again. It still slips but I can almost always get moving as long as gentle with the gas. Its only slipping after 10 miles or quicker if I'm driving a bit aggressive.
Re: Shicka-Shicka
Either your losing fluid pressure or you have lost too much clutch material.
If you were just losing pressure, your continual driving while it’s slipping is drastically eating up what’s left of the clutches.
Besides the cost, no reason to not at least try doing at a 2x drain and refill, maybe even filter through a coffee paper and see what kind of muck is in there.

I dont know before me, but I did one about when this noise and slipping started and nothing changed with the honda trans oil. I have read suggestions of adding lucas oil transmission fluid, but have not done that.
