2005 EL rear rotor rust pattern

I got new rear pads/rotors a few weeks ago due to a grinding noise coming from the rear right. Turns out the rotor was pooched. Noise has since disappeared after brake job.

Now I'm noticing a rust pattern on the inner circumference of the new rotors that was not present before. Mechanic said calipers were fine to keep on.

Normal or no? These are cheapo rotors with raybestos advanced tech pads.

until it gets worn, it's normal, yes.

you could try to do a brake pad set procedure (was that the name?) - ah, OK, the term was bedding in the pads.

forgot the theory, but it have to do with the different diameter/circumference that causes the outer diameter to set in before the inner diameter.
yes, normal.

Thank you for the reply. I originally asked my mechanic if proper bedding is really necessary and said he has never bothered.

I could see it being important for a performance vehicle making quick hard stops but puttering around town like a grandma probably not.

Rotors can rust wherever the brake pads don't make contact.
