2005 honda civic HX starter issue
2005 honda civic HX starter issue
I can pop the clutch on my 2005 honda hx, but i do not get any crank, nothing.
Engine will run fine for as long as I leave it run and can pop the clutch when i need to start it, so i thought it was the starter, took off asperator, and took the two bolts from the starter off, at least from what i can tell, the HX 2005 model starter is in a slightly different location than the other models i've see videos on, both bolts are same size, which, made me think i got the wrong two bolts, but can't get good angle of it without filming on my phone, and it seems i did get the proper two bolts. but the starter won't budge at all, any ideas? I sprayed penetrating spray along the seal where the starter alongside the engine.
any ideas/thoughts?

it seems there is still a small rubber pad on the clutch switch, but i maybe looking at the wrong thing.
my HX model has 2 bolts holding on the starter that are the same sized bolt, and it took a 2x4 and rubber mallet giving it a couple whacks to pry it off was on there good. Popped off after some whacks with it. had some graphic shavings on the wall part of the starter.

The clutch switch that you can see easily (the bottom one) is not for the starter.
The switch for the starter is waaay up high on the clutch pedal.
You might need to get your head under the dash a little more to see it.
Make sure your floor mat isn't wadded up under the clutch pedal.
You could test the starter on the car without removing it using jumper wire.
I'd be testing the ground and the 2 wires to the starter first, probably with a test light as a simple yes or no indicator. The small wire should light up a test light when the key is twisted. If no power is received there, then I'd be checking circuits between the key and starter --including the clutch switch.

well, removed the starter and it's testing good, so at least i know how to do that in the future if ever needed. I can see the clutch switch once getting the cover off under dashboard and following clutch up. i need to get a multimeter and test it there. Also need to find the fuse for the starter, but haven't had luck finding that on my first glance.

There isn't really any fuse.
There's the ignition switch itself,
clutch switch,
and a relay (called 'starter cut relay') in the dash fusebox
plus wiring
Man, I can't find an accurate schematic for it on a goggle search either. Found lots of wrong diagrams though LOL
Found a couple that might be close but for wrong generation and colors probably don't match up.
