P0456 after replacing timing belt

2002 Civic EX. 142k miles. SOMETHING caused the tensioner spring to get completely ripped out of the hole in the tensioner (see pic). Replaced water pump/serpentine belt/tensioner. Now have check engine light and only code is P0456 (very small evap emission system leak). It also takes forever to start.
But it also goes into safe mode at 3500 RPM. WTF? This does not compute...
Before anyone asks, we triple-checked to verify both the cam and crank were at TDC after new belt installation, or it wouldn't have even started.

Ya, that's normal wear. THAT'S why we suggest replacing it long before this happens.

and only code is P0456 (very small evap emission system leak).
Should be completely unrelated to the timing belt issue.

Check codes after it starts the failsafe mode, without shutting it off.

Also.....before you do anything else......make SURE the alternator mounting bolts got tightened. (and the mounting bracket) If someone forgot to tighten the hardware and the alternator is running ungrounded, it can ruin the PCM.

Re: P0456 after replacing timing belt

Never mind. Auto Zone gave me a printout of a vehicle that just had it's code read and he apparently didn't clear out his code reader. It was crank sensor, which is what I expected. P0336. When the water pump seized, part of the belt got torn backwards and it would have easily damaged the crank sensor, but at over $100, it wasn't one of those "I might as well change it while I'm in there." Fortunately, I only need to remove the two belts on the pulley, the pulley itself and lower timing cover to change it.
