Radiator help - is this supposed to happen?

Car is overheating here and there so I decided to get the radiator replaced on my 02 Civic EX coupe. With this new radiator, I've often been checking before I start car for the first time in the morning to make sure coolant is there, no leaks ect.

When I open radiator cap in the morning, before I start car, some coolant pretty much shoots out of my radiator because of the pressure. Never had that before. Car runs flawless. Is this the norm? My old radiator where the cap meets the radiator, the radiator was melted so there was no air tight seal and never did this.

Thanks,
Jacob

Melted = steam erosion = engine has been severely overheated?
Head gasket/warped head.

But it's not that. No milky oil. No leaking coolant. No white smoke from tailpipe. Not overheating anymore

These engines don't do any of that unless the damage is extreme. Most people with head gasket problems in these cars are in denial because these don't give any of the symptoms most people look for.

There's about 20k threads in this forum about the same thing-- overheating-- and most swear it can't be the head gasket.....Guess what.

Overheat- It only takes one time to do a lot of damage.

Want to discuss the original cause of the first radiator being damaged? Low coolant is the expected cause of steam erosion damage to the radiator, and a bad head gasket would be the expected ROOT cause of the coolant loss that caused the above situation.

You didn't have a radiator that could actually seal against pressure before either. Right?

Not overheating anymore
Don't top off the radiator daily and give it some time and miles.... If the head gasket is leaking, it will eventually displace enough liquid to cause an overheat.

There should be a talking parrot available in the emoticon list that just repeats head gasket causes, Honda specific symptoms and tests to determine a breached head gasket.

The parrot should be named Pzone..lol

I've lurked this forum for only a few months and I have read this at least 100 times in relation to head gaskets.

Prepare to replace your HG down the road
