head gasket replacement

Replacing head gasket on 04 civic v tech engine.Pushing water out of radiator,oil clean no water out of tailpipe.What kind of problems will run into doing this job?How do i find a reliable shop to mill the head to get it true again,and what kind of cost is fair?All the help will be highly appreciated THANKS

Have head measured for flatness before just milling it.
Max warp spec is low something like .002", but many I take apart measure perfectly flat.
If it's been severely overheated it may need milled.

Machining finish is extremely fine, something like 30rA or less, very very very smooth. Pay attention to the original finish, it's extremely smooth and needs to stay that way.

No scotchbrite, roloc, or power tools needed to clean the head and block surfaces.
Razor blades or plastic scraper only, and maybe cleaning fluid.


OE head gasket.
Some people report premature failures after using felpro

reuse head bolts unless damaged

Thanks for the info,Was going to buy fel pro gasket went with oe honda I do not want to do this again,what a job.The head was 4 thousands out.Just waiting to get parts and will put back together.May need some help on re-assembly so you may here from me again thanks again.
