With my O2 sensor going kapooey I need to buy a new one I found one on amazon.com, the Denso 234-4620 Oxygen Sensor w/wiring and plug. Need it for a 03' honda civic ex. I was wondering, couldn't I just buy the spark plug looking thingy only? since I already have the wiring and plug? or can that not be reused? Trying to save a little money because it looks like I'll need a ratchet adapter to get the old sensor off, unless there are some other inventive ways to get it off. Only way I've seen so far is using the Powerbuilt 648691 Oxygen Sensor Offset Puller.

One: make sure the sensor is a plug and play kind of deal. Toy don't wanna but a "universal" one that requires you to write it up yourself. The d17 doesn't play nice with those.

Two: a 17mm (I think) wrench should be all you need. Assuming I have a replacement and the wrench, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes for the downstream sensor and 5 minutes for the upstream sensor. It's seriously unplug -> unscrew -> install new -> plug in

O2 sensor takes a 7/8" wrench. If a plain wrench can't get a good grip there are several other specialized tools for the sensors.

You already found a denso sensor on Amazon, what's wrong with that?




EDIT: That number sensor doesn't fit 03 Civic? IDK, that's what popped up on my screen.

What brand is the sensor in there now?

Sorry it is the Denso 234-4621 Oxygen Sensor. Not sure if it comes with the wire and plug in the amazon post or if those can be reused.

Looks complete to me. Simple swap, no splicing. Unplug connector and unscrew sensor.
