headlight bulb fixture (Swiss civic)

Hello all,

So here's my situation. I'm an American living in Switzerland and I own a 2005 Civic, sorry I don't even know the level. It's a 1.7L gas model. Anyway for some reason it seems to burn the headlights out a lot, like every 3 months one will go out. When I check the bulb it's all white and weird looking as if it's exploded inside. The only way I've managed to somewhat make them last longer is to always turn the lights on and off while the engine is running, never turn the lights on before starting the car and never have them still on after the engine shuts off. If I do that they seem to last pretty long time. And I'm okay with this situation. However after changing the bulbs out so many times, especially at first when I didn't know how to make them last longer, I've managed to damage the plastic fixture (the thing the bulb plugs into) that they fit into. The fixture has these two wings that this metal bar press against to hold the bulb in the housing. So I'd like to get a new fixture so I don't have these broken *** wings.

I'm going back to the states for vacation and I'd like to get the parts there because I feel more comfortable speaking my native English than my crappy German. However when I look the parts up, it looks like the whole headlights are different in the US for the 2005 civic, mine uses H1 type bulbs where I think the US one uses H4. Finally my question is, is it possible to get the part in the US, like is there another trim level that uses the H1 like mine that I could order? Thanks for the help!

Re: headlight bulb fixture (Swiss civic)

First rule of Halogen light bulbs is never ever touch the glass.
The oils from your skin can cause the glass to overheat or even melt while the bulb is on.
I'm guessing that's what happened to the bulbs?

Next....I have a site bookmarked, it's the only thing I have that might help on that side of the pond
http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda...alogue_C01.php
(EDIT: I just looked in that site and chose some random Swiss market LHD 05 Civic and it shows projector type headlights)

Check with shops that do body work, they may know sources of cheaper aftermarket parts (headlights) over there..
Maybe look for aftermarket replacement headlight housings on alibaba.com or similar?
