04 Civic "overheating"

Recently my Civic started reading that it was overheating. Sometimes when I'm at a stop the temp gauge climbs rapidly. As soon as I start moving the temp gauge drops back down to normal. I just changed out the thermostat to see if that solved it..but no. Thinking water pump? Please help.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Your radiator is low. Refill it.
The reservoir bottle is overfull? Empty?
No leaks seen on the ground?

I smell another head gasket job.

First, search for your issue in (the likely) case it's been covered before. If you're still not satisfied, go to the subforum your issue falls under (like, 7th gen--->mechanical issues/fix-it forum) and the "New Thread" button will appear above the "threads in forum" section. Click that and you're good to go.

Well, it is what it is. At least you shouldn't have to do it again!
