Clacking sound when starting car
Clacking sound when starting car
After getting the timing belt of my car replaced i noticed that when i start the car, it makes a loud clacking sound before it starts. Never happened before. Ahole at dealership said they dont think its anything out of the ordinary. Today, when i tried to start it, it wont start. Maybe the starter over heated? An hour later i tried again and it started. Anyone know what it could be. I heard alternator or maybe slipping of the belt due yo it not being tightened. Didnt have noise before timing belt replacement so its either coincidence or they messed something up. Any opinion??
Re: Clacking sound when starting car
chances are they messed something up,
i cant hear anything from here and have no idea what "clacking" means,
take a video with sound?
check the tension on the two drive belts, just push on them with your finger, they should not flex a lot

If you don't hear the clacking, we need more cowbell!
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
