Driver-side carpet damp after rain
Driver-side carpet damp after rain
Just got myself a 2005 Civic EX Coupe and noticed dampness this morning on the driver-side after a big rain last night. It rained more earlier and i got a pic of two spots where the water was mostly concentrated before it had a chance to disperse throughout the rest of the carpet. There doesn't appear to be any leaks around the window or door. Perhaps the sunroof drain tube? Does it run along that area?

Put a garden hose pouring water on that side of the car and go inside and look for the actual leak.
Sunroof front drain tubes are in the area of the kickpanels, and they tend to detach the tube away from the elbow that makes water exit out the side of the car. First place I'd look.
You may want to pull the side trims up and see just how much water is really under the carpet too. It won't drain out on its own (unless the bottom of the car is rusted out, and the padding can hold gallons of water) and it can end up stinking bad if you can't get it dried out. I've had to strip interiors and remove carpet to get them dried, let the carpet hang in the sun a couple days or a week with fans on it.
