Angry Now Fan Is Not Working...Honda Civic 2002

Heater blew cold air, and we had that fixed, I guess. We had heat for two weeks. Now, fan is not working, except when A/C is on. When A/C is On, the fan does work. Honda Civic, 2002 LX, 180,000.

1. Car thermostat has been replaced three times in one year (we were told that the thermostat was the problem -- replaced twice... that the thermostat was stuck open...causing the heater to blow cold air).

2. Car water pump is new. Radiator is new. Belts are new (NOT timing belt, tho).

3. Most recently, last guys took dashboard off to replace heater core (we thought maybe that was the problem), then said that the heater core for 2002 is specialty size and $500. The guys flushed hoses, I guess, and fixed thermostat which was stuck open (no new heater core, said it didn't need one). Three days later, we had car back, with heat. We were happy to have heat when all of a sudden, two weeks later, fan stopped working. We really cannot afford another $700. [SRS light ON when car was returned to us, so air bags don't work. Unrelated, probably. I have fault codes if that would be helpful to anyone.]

Anyone have an idea about what is wrong? Just to complicate matters, engine is now sputtering sometimes when you turn ignition. Okay, but acts *like* timing is too low (please don't tell me head gasket).

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Now Fan Is Not Working...Honda Civic 2002

Heater fan does not blow?

Check at fan motor connector for power and ground.

If power and ground are both present, smack the bottom of the fan motor and see if it runs. (bad motor)

If ground is missing, reconnect the fan and move to power transistor and jumper the 2 fat wires.

If fan now runs, replace the power transistor.
Inspect cabin filters and replace if dirty, and measure amp draw of the fan motor.

What are the SRS codes?
Tried erasing them yet? What codes return?
