Squeaking Noise from front driver side wheel (01 Civic Ex Coupoe)
Squeaking Noise from front driver side wheel (01 Civic Ex Coupoe)
Hi Guys,
Very recently, the drivers side of my car has developed a squeaking noise. Seems to usually be triggered by turning the wheel and reversing. However, it sometimes goes away/comes back while driving.
It only occurs when the wheels are spinning. Pressing the break or traveling at slow speeds (10-15mph) stops the squeaking.
My car is a 01 Honda Civic Ex Coupe ~ 110k miles.
I am thinking it is either the brake pad or the wheel bearing?
I have added a very short video of it here. I will try to take another video next time it occurs.
Its usually a little louder (when driving faster)

Sounds like a brake pad wear indicator?
Check brakes.

Handy pics? This set got replaced before the squealer made contact, you can see the squealer (metal tab) good in the 2nd pic.

sounds like a rock in a hub cap. My experience with wear tabs is they squeak rolling down the road until you hit the brake. Then they stop. Right before they are almost touching, like on the back right, if you take a left turn at 25-35, it will make a shrill that can sound like a bearing. I hear a click like a rock in a hub cap (if you have one or a rock in the rotor shield) As loud as that, it could be loose lug nuts or something broken.

Thanks guys! It was the brake pads, changed them and everything is good.
Had a little scare after they were first installed, no pressure.

GOTTA pump the pedal up before you try to move the car!
I've seen many people over the years drive into garage doors, walls, toolboxes, and other cars because they didn't pump up the brake pedal after a service!
I heard of someone at another dealer driving a car into a pond because of this.....Bet that was not a good day LOL
