Misfire cyc 3
Misfire cyc 3
Hey everyone. This is kicking me in the butt. Changed the plugs. NGK iridium's. Swapped coils around. Fuel injector working properly. 150 psi compression on all cyc's. I do have the classic spark plug tube leak but I have cleaned all related parts till it is fixed. Got to fix the miss first. Anyway all coil plugs have power, ground, and signal as far as i can tell. I am out of idea's. The last post I seen on this topic the guy replaced all coils. What could the next step be with out spending $250??? If i have to I will.

Post the freeze frame data please.
EDIT: A spark plug tube leak is not "classic". It's a problem. Valve cover ring seal lip got caught on the edge of the tube?

Ok. What car do you have? (more info than just '7th gen')
Valve clearance checks?
Does it have an EGR valve? Unplug the valve and drive it a few days. See if the misfire code still sets while it's unplugged.

2001 civic lx 1.7 without egr. Original owner lost the timing belt at around 110,000 miles. Reman head installed. Work done at a local dealer before I bought the car. It now has 177,000 miles. Didn't think I had to check the valves because I had 150 psi compression?

No EGR? Damn.
No freeze data, it would help to know what conditions this thing misfires under. Idle? Acceleration? Steady highway speed? Redline?
You already swapped coils and replaced plugs....
Did you swap injectors with a different cylinder? See if the miss moves with the injector?
Valve adjustment? They tend to tighten up valves as they age.
Your 150 PSI compression would seem low if I did it. I expect 180+ with my equipment and method and a good battery.

Re: Misfire cyc 3
The miss is always there. A dead hole. Checked each injector with multimeter and got 10 ohms each. Noid light flashed on each one as well. I have not driven the car since the new plugs were installed. When i removed the plugs for the compression check. #3 looked as clean as it was out of the box and wet with fuel. I can double check the compression tomorrow. Just to make sure I didn't read it wrong.

You swapped coils but you didn't actually check for spark?
How about checking for sparks from the coil on the dead hole? While plugged in to the connector for the dead hole.

Re: Misfire cyc 3
I found the problem. It was the #3 coil. The tools I had and borrowed showed spark but once I figured a way to get the plugs to spark outside the chamber. I guess the coil was weak but not dead. Thanks for the advice
