2003 Civic DX Intake Manifold Gasket Differences

Hi,

This is my first honda car and I really do like the simplicity and mpg of this car!

I purchased it for $900 and found out a couple weeks later is had a little bit of a blown HG where some combustion was escaping through the HG to the coolant.

So i purchased complete gasket set for my engine and tore it all apart and swapped the HG, now there is no more combustion getting into the coolant which is awesome!

But there was a problem with the intake manifold gasket not being the same.

This is what the gasket I took out looked like

Ok so from what i kind of understand here is the black/silver gasket without the holes is meant for a civic without EGR? my civic doesn't seem to have EGR and all the EGR passageways were very clean. I didn't know which gasket to use since none of the two in my kit were exactly the same as the one I took out. I went ahead and used the black/silver gasket with the extra holes and the car is working but I am hearing air hissing where the intake bolts to the head.

I guess what im wondering is, is it ok for me to use the gasket with EGR holes even though I don't have EGR? or is this maybe the reason I got the air leak? Also whats the black gasket for?? maybe I should have used it instead? its so confusing i've never seen an intake with like 3 or 4 different gaskets for the same year its crazy confusing

Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks

Re: 2003 Civic DX Intake Manifold Gasket Differences

Ok I grabbed a can of carb cleaner and found where the hissing is coming from, its coming from the #2 injector, my dad convinced me to remove the fuel rail to get better access to the bolts for intake removal but I knew I was goin to pay for it! I just went and grabbed a fuel injector O-ring kit, hopefully all is well after I install them

But if somebody can confirm its ok for me to be using the intake gasket with the holes that would be great!

Not sure how I missed this post, but I think it's ok to use the one with all the extra holes even without an EGR valve.
