Slow braking 7th Gen Civics?

Have you guys experience that the 7th gen civics brakes pretty slow?
At first I thought its only me, but when I started looking at reviews (like MotorWeek), they all say its pretty slow compare to others..
I wish Honda can make a recall on them.

forget a recall. all the trim levels below the EX stop at around 147ft. from 60-0. The EX only take ~124ft 'cause it has ABS. Since i haven't slammed on the brakes in an LX, DX, or HX i don't know how good (or bad) they are. I can say however, that i am impressed with how my EX brakes. stops on a dime!

I have had the ABS kick in and save my *** on a few occassions. I could see getting some nice brembo's on these cars. AT least the EX should get a better pad. But no one else in the same class is offering anything special so HONDA's not going to do it anytime soon. HONDA has always included crappy stock brakes exhaust and tires.

Hm..I have 02 Ex Coupe, and I think it brakes very slowly.
The review in MotorWeek tests the new Si, and it said it brakes slow too.
Not to promote Focus, but they also tested the SVT Focus, and that brakes a lot faster.

i'm impressed with most everything on this car, and was very impressed with the brakes when I got into it for the first time.

Of course, I came from a 96 Chevy S-10, in which the brakes were horrible.

i got a lx, brakes are pretty good, i actually prefer not to have abs. if u have abs, and you have to slam on your brakes, you're more likely to be rear ended if someone's behind you. i'd rather suffer a broken leg than chronic neck and back problems.

i still think that they are quite good. the ABS has saved me from slamming into those damn deers more than a few times. i must say that the civic brakes are hella-better than my bro's '86 Olds' brakes. I can't lock them up even if i tried! (the manual says that it stops in 198 ft!!!!)

i think its pretty slow too, but i have only had one problem so far and that involved the brakes locking up in the rain, fortunately they were just quick enough to keep me out of rear ending someone...

ok, my '01 EX 5-speed coupe is only my second car but i must say that i LOVE the abs, my first car was an 86 pontiac grand am, and i cant tell you how many times i locked those babies up. the abs on this has saved my azz a handfull of times, the only complaint i have is the awful noise it makes, o well, ill live with it if its a life saver. also when you guys get a chance to have an open backroad all to youselves and you start pushing it, and your brakes get hot, do you notice that they feel like there are little pebbles in them, this has only happened a few times but i never noticed it with my grand am. and btw, these things are not ferraris, theyre not going to stop before you even touch the brakes, what do you expect.

only ex's have abs. on other cars u can find out by gettin up to about 35 or so and "lock'em up", if they do, u cant steer and they literally lock up, if the pedal feels like it it pulsating, or like there are stones between the pad and rotor, its abs, u can also steer w/ abs. that help? oh yeah, do it somewhere safe (i.e. back road)
