2005 LX Fluctuating Voltage Problem
2005 LX Fluctuating Voltage Problem
I recently started having electrical problems in my 2005 LX which ended up being dead battery and alternator. I replaced them with a new battery and a reman alternator from autozone. After install I didn't have any problems for several months. I started having issues again this summer while running the A/c. The a/c compressor is also new and works fine, but I started losing power to gauges/fan/radio etc... while driving and had a persistent belt squeal. Tested at the battery with multimeter at ~12 V while running and confirmed test at autozone and les schuab that the battery was recieving nothing from the alternator. I pulled both the battery and alternator and had them benched tested and they came back good. I cleaned up all my terminals and reinstalled and everything was good, 14 v at the battery while running and no belt squeal. Ran the car for a week and everything was good. Turned the A/c on again to test and began to lose power again. I might be fasely associating the voltage fluctuation with the use of the a/c because I have no proof that they are related. I checked all of my fuses and rechecked the belt tension and it was still getting 12v at the battery, this time with no belt squeal. I since have gone back to 14v at the battery and back down to 12 without changing anything in the car. My first thought is obviously bad voltage reg on the alternator, but I've had it bench tested multiple times good. Any help would be awesome.

Check torque on your alt mount bolts. If they're loose and you ignore it, it can fry your PCM. They"re a bit difficult to get to... but get them properly torqued.
If no-go with a torque wrench, get them tight and check them periodically.
