Rough Noisy engine at certain rpm

2001 civic dx, manual with a/c. 228K miles.

Recently changed front motor mount & timing belt. Now engine runs rough or vibration, more noticeable in the cabin than at engine.

I rechecked my timing marks, they line up perfectly.

The idle is at 700rpm once it warmed up. Rev up fine, no lag or any noticeable power difference.

Thinking it is the motor mount, which is a very cheap one i bought from amazon.

any ideas.

Sounds reasonable to replace the motor mount. https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...re-buying.html

Use OEM Honda mounts.

Also, some of the mounts are different between coupe and sedan or auto/manual, maybe they sent you parts for the wrong car.

Re: Rough Noisy engine at certain rpm

^That.

Since the two transmissions have a pretty big difference in weight and how it's distributed in the car, not to mention attachment points on them... auto and manual trans mounts will definitely be different.

On my old Escort auto, had looked up the mount for the rear of the drivetrain, as apparently on these 90s models, they lasted about as long as a high student getting his nasty on after prom. The manual and auto versions of the same mount couldn't be more different. Swapping them with each other is asking for NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), not to mention possibly even shorter service life.

Neutralize the mounts? Check it out here: http://honda-tech.com/showpost.php?p=36669793&postcount=16

Yep -- another good tip. On my Escort it was waaaay more ghetto and involved than the Honda version... but the result, even on the infamously-box-o'-rocks-down-a-cliff SPI engine, was a super-smooth idle. Not so much with just slapping the mounts in (this of course with OEM mounts... with aftermarket ones, you're on your own).
