Rear passenger automatic lock works intermittently
Rear passenger automatic lock works intermittently
When I lock or unlock my 2001 Civic LX using the key on the outside of the driver door, the rear passenger lock sometimes moves and sometimes doesn't. I get the impression that it might need to be oiled or something. Thoughts? If it does need to be oiled, can someone give me a little guidance as to how I would do that?
Re: Rear passenger automatic lock works intermittently
Mine does the exact same thing. I would be interested to see how to fix. I do have a spare auto unit on hand, so I can replace it if need be.

Re: Rear passenger automatic lock works intermittently
Next time you lock or unlock watch the lock **** on the problem door.... look for any slight movement of the **** as you attempt.
Try working the lock/unlock button on closed drivers door several times and see if the rear lock **** will start moving
The actuators are more toward the center on the rear doors. Not on the latch like the fronts are.

There are no issues with the window. The **** itself does move slightly when I lock or unlock and occasionally it will actually work. Most of the time, it seems to move slightly but seems to be stuck.

No lube is going to solve a weak DC motor.
