Sunroof

The sunroof in my 2004 si-g is acting up where the tilt barely lifts up and when i retract it back it moves extremely slow back and forth so i was just wondering if theirs any maintenance needed or where i should look to start trying to diagnose it

Re: Sunroof

I would start by removing the headliner to gain access to the sunroof motor and tracks. The motor is either getting weak and dying or your window tracks have junk in them slowing it down. The tracks and motor may also need some grease.

Re: Sunroof

It's a HONDA. There are no problems!

Yeah, dirt or trash in the tracks, walnuts, acorns, pine needles, or other tree debris..... Barbie Doll shoes and LEGOs if you have kids (yes I have seen it LOL).
Seriously, I almost never see problems with Hondas sunroofs here. Most problems I see are from trash caught in them.

Does it work better if you help it along by pushing on the sliding panel?
Observe carefully if one side tries to lead the other, that might be a clue that there is a cable or mechanism issue on the slow side.

Silicone spray on the rubber seal of the sliding panel, and open the roof and wax the opening in the body where the rubber seal rides.
