scratched cylinder head
I was cleaning my cylinder head and I found this scratch. Can I install it like this or get it fix. I can barely feel it with my finger nail. Can some JB well on it? Thx

Re: scratched cylinder head
I'm wondering about the machined finish more than that scratch.
The magnifier makes it appear rough as hell.
A MLS head gasket needs a relatively smooth surface to seal against. Look at the surface of the block deck for comparison.
The coating on the gasket can only compensate for so much imperfection in the surfaces.
Most MLS gaskets require a surface smoother than 40 Ra (240 Rz) for the gasket to seal properly, the finish on the head and block must be flatter and smoother than what has traditionally been required for composite gaskets.

Re: scratched cylinder head
Thanks, I will talk to another machine shop.
I have another question. Intake valve runners are different. One is bigger than the other one for the D17a2 head. See photos

Cylinder 1 intake valve #1

Cylinder 1 intake valve #2

Re: scratched cylinder head
Because God invented it that way?
EDIT: Was that head resurfaced or is that the original finish?
