i have a 2003 civic ex 5spd with the code p0135, the bank 1 sensor 1. I replaced the sensor yesterday, reset the ecu, checked the wires ( everything looks fine) but the MIL still comes on after 5 minutes of the car running. I have no idea what else it could be. Is there a fuse related to the o2 that could be bad? anyone have any idea on what else I can do

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 03 civic ex o2 sensor
Make sure you replaced the correct sensor.
Recheck the code. Could be a completely different code now.
P0135 sets much quicker than 5 minutes if the fault is active. More like 5 seconds.
Where did your new sensor come from? Is it the same brand as the original sensor? (NTK or DENSO)

ENZO,
I am new to the forum but on my fifth Honda. I see you all over the site and wanted to know if you knew how I can find out which engine specifically I have so I can order the DENSO O2 sensor since I am getting the same code P0135.
How do I know if I have the D17A1, D17A6 or D17A2? That probably is a stupid question but I can't figure it out so I can order the correct part.
Thanks man!

The Honda parts catalog does not tell which brand, it only tells a Honda part number.
You have to look on the sensor, the name and numbers are stamped into them.
Could be DENSO, could be NTK.

It's stamped into the bellhousing area of the block.
You may need to do some cleaning to read it.
Thanks man!

Since you have an ex, you should have an -a2 under the hood. Also, if you used a universal or non-OEM brand, you may have problems. The d17 is finicky as hell when it comes to o2 sensors.

so I still have the same code. I can drive it around the block after resetting it and it will come back on. I replaced the o2 sensor with an aftermarket because they didnt have the oem in stock and I didnt want to wait but I ordered the oem one and it should be here in a few days so im hoping thats all it is. The ex has the d17a2 unless its swapped..thanks for the info though im gonna try the oem and see if it fixes the problem

Make sure the year is right also for the sensor. 01-03 is different then 04-05.
* 01-03 o2 sensor
04-05 AF sensor
* 01-03 o2 sensor
04-05 AF sensor

got the oem sensor yesterday installed it today and no more code!! awesome. I would recommend always buying the oem o2 sensor. I wasted 25 bucks on a junk aftermarket. anyways thanks for input
