i have an 01 civic and somehow my stock car security has turned on and the green key light on my instrument panel is flashing. the car will turn over and i can hear the fuel pump on but because the light is on it will not let my car start. i have tried locking and unlocking the doors from inside and outside the car with the key and the light still wont turn off. any ideas what i can do?

well i recently got my ecm changed and my car was working perfectly and i drove home the next day, turned the car off left my keys in the ignition and started to put the ecm back in the dash and put my car back together. after i was done i went inside and came back outside about a half hour later to leave and my car wouldnt start. the car cranks and everything sounds like it should start but the flashing green key symbol wont turn off. and i looked up that was the anti theft was enabled. so i tried to disconnect the battery for 20 min and tried to leave the key in the on position for 15 min to reset it and also locking and unlocking the doors ect. nothing would work.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Security wont let me start my car!
I know about the other thread with the loose alternator bolts and fried PCM. That's the story I wanted the update on. Was that problem fixed so this new PCM doesn't get ruined?
Answer this list please:
New PCM or used?
Who put the PCM in?
Was it programmed?
Who did that?
Did you take ALL of your keys?
Were they all programmed to the new PCM correctly, or not at all?
Try the rest of your keys, see if any of those will let it start. Report back.

First thing:
You don't have a weak battery, do you? That can cause screwy things to happen with the electronics.
From a Honda Service News article:
A weak battery may have
enough juice to turn the starter motor (it will turn
with 9 to 10 volts), but not enough to run the
other electrical systems, particularly the
ECM/PCM.
Try a battery charger or a jump start, see if that helps.
-------------------------------------------------------------
If the battery isn't the problem now...
...Your original problem was that the alternator bolts were left loose, and in turn, that ruined the previous PCM.
The question now is, has the original alternator problem been corrected?
If it wasn't corrected, you might have damaged the new PCM.
.
If it was corrected, then this now sounds like some part of the immobilizer related systems didn't retain it's key programming.......Um, call your dealer and see how they want to approach the issue.
