Advice Needed Please! - Thinking of buying '04 EX
Hey folks - I'm a newbie to the board so please be patient. I'm looking at a '04 civic EX - private party sale. Everything seems pretty good. 154K miles, the previous owner (the seller has owned this for ~8 mo, original owner before that - original owner is friend of seller) original owner had clutch replaced by a shop prior to selling to current seller. The car is makes a noticeable noise - rubbing of some type...while in gear. I think the noise stops while the clutch is pressed down to shift and then continues after car in gear, all the while driving. This guy stated that the noise was noted after the clutch was replaced. Clutch certainly feels 'new'....owner describes as "tight" and said the shop seemed to think it was ok. Shifting itself seems good. The guy has been driving it for the 8 months or so - apparently not thinking much of it. As someone who is not capable/interested in a fix-er-up (i.e. transmission work), should I stay away from this? I plan to have a checkout done but wanted your advice. Also, the seller stated that the clutch work and some other work was done prior to him buying but he currently doesn't have the records to show specifically what.
