Replace oxygen sensors a p.m.?
Replace oxygen sensors a p.m.?
My son's 2003 Civic with 160,000 kms on the clock, has just had it's second bout of idling/running problems in 2 months. Both times it's been one of the coils that has gone bad.
While doing the troubleshooting I've been reading lots of posts about possible causes and see that some owners have been replacing the oxygen sensors after so many kms. Wondering if for this car/year/model I should replace them as a preventative measure to avoid him getting towed back home one more time. I'm gonna suggest to him to replace the other 2 coils anyhow.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Replace oxygen sensors a p.m.?
I'd wait until they become a problem, then replace with the correct OEM sensor(s). Tossing in cheapo aftermarket sensors can easily cause more problems than they are worth.
