2002 Civic LX Cruise Control Problem
2002 Civic LX Cruise Control Problem
Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster.
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX Sedan Manual Transmission
My cruise control is not working at all.
I have no "cruise control" light on my dash.
Here is what I checked so far.
All fuses below the dash and in the engine compartment are good. I read the horn is on the same fuse and horn works.
I checked the clutch pedal sensor and brake pedal sensor, all good. Car will not start unless you push down clutch pedal. Brake lights turn on when you press it.
the "cruise control" button by the mirror adjustment has two bad bulbs. I get no continuity with my multi meter through the bulbs. I don't think the bulbs would kill this switch?
So my next steps would either be replacing the bulbs in the switch, or the whole switch with bulbs (seems to be the cheaper option). Maybe even the buttons on the steering wheel or replacing the cruise control computer.
Please let me know if I am on the right track.
Thanks!

Re: 2002 Civic LX Cruise Control Problem
That's #7 in the engine compartment. The other is #4 in the dash box. There more to it than just seeing if the apparently obvious stuff works. There is another switch on the clutch pedal that you need to check, it has absolutely nothing to do with the starter.
The brake light switch has a second set of contacts and wires, they are independent of the brake lights but still incorporated within the same switch. These also operate differently from the brake light portion. Check that too. Wiring diagram would lead the way for me.
Make sure ALL 3 brake lights work. No, bulbs have no effect. No. You have a volt/ohm meter? Go get a wiring diagram and service manual and do some real checking, not just randomly firing the parts cannon. This is likely to be a REAL simple problem, you just need to approach it logically to find it.
I can do almost all the initial electrical tests right from the control unit connector.
