Is it my Transmisson?
Is it my Transmisson?
I recently bought my 2001 Honda Civic LX 4 Door...It has 128k miles on it and in the 100 mile mark of me driving it, I noticed some weird behavior when starting to accelerate. (Sometimes) On many occasions, I would accelerate my car would not shutoff but it would hesitate to accelerate...I would have to gas it a few times then it takes off. Thats ONE problem!
The second problem. Well, I was at a stop sign a couple days ago and my car would not go at all. The car was still on but it would not go. The RPM went to about a 5 or 6 but the car did not move. I would have to cut the car off then back on after about 60 seconds and it would go again but not for very long. It would get up to speeds for than 60 but it would become kind of naggy after a minute. (Which is why I didn't drive it very long after it started doing this)
No check engine lights are on and it is not out of gas!
I'm really not sure if it's the transmission, transmission or anything else. Can someone please AT LEAST give me a little insight or a little direction to begin finding the problem.

Re: Is it my Transmisson?
sounds like your having the same problem mine is having.. when its cold it will go into gear and drive for maybe 1-5 mins then it will eventually shift its self back to neutral and not move unless i shut the car off and back on for a few mins. I thought mine was my tranny so i went and got a good used tranny out of a running civic exactly like mine 01 4 door ex. After i got the transmission in i had a CEL which was "P1706 Open in Transmission Range Switch Circuit" so now im at the point i dont think the tranny was ever actually bad to begin with. I still havent figured out my problem yet but figured i could share my issue seeing as how they are very similar and ive replaced my tranny and it didnt fix the issue.

Oh man! I really appreciate your response! I was really looking into finding a new transmission. I have a mechanic coming over this week to try to diagnose the problem. I will surely let you know if he finds and fix the problem because I know how much of a hastle it is! Thanks Again!
