Compare yours to another identical car that has no complaints, see if yours acts the same.

OK then, if it is a brand new issue, then something unusual is probably going on. Investigate. Find everything out of the ordinary and see if they all add up.
Fluid level OK?
How about the fluid condition?
Does it shift normally while driving?
Motor mounts all good?
Axles? Suspension?
I don't have a clue.

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
You have one of the best people to ask trying to work with you right now....answer his questions.
Are you trying to take off as soon as it hits D ?.... If so it will jerk.
If you do not know when the last drain and refill was done you could try one. (OEM fluid)

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
so this morn i started my car and everything was working fine .. what i noticed is those jerks i get is only occasionally.. and it can be either from P to D or R to D or D to P either way .. and no i dont drive as soon as i hit D but i do wait like a second and then drive... the jerk i feel is as soon as i hit the gear lets say from P to D

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
never know it could be suspension related. might even be a motor mount. work with people on the forums there is a lot of knowledge here. not I though, I avoid automatic transmissions like the plague
Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
i agree but my case im 100 percent certain its not suspension because i get the problem even when im not mobile.. anyways so what everyone else has to say?
Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
the problem isnt persistent.. i mean it happens sometimes somtimes it dont.. and i dont rush in gearing and driving off.. regardless the jerk is felt as sooon as i hit the gear to P-D or R

Play nice guys... No need to get personal over a public forum.
Do a drain and fill, NOT A FLUSH though. See if that helps. If not your other option is to keep driving it and hope the tranny doesn't bite it. These transmissions are bad and everyone knows it. You just cross your fingers that it lasts.

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
Who is doing this work again? So then.....
If your mechanic can't pick the correct fluid, then he needs replaced.
ORIGINAL honda or any other works fine ?
Hondas Z-1 trans fluid has been replaced by DW-1.

If your mechanic can't pick the correct fluid, then he needs replaced.
Clue: There are 70 different transmission fluids out there for the automotive market. Only one of them is absolutely correct for your car.

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
Honda ATF from your dealer. Make sure your mechanic is not doing a flush just a drain and fill this is critical to the life of your transmission.
Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
i dont know if thats flushing or draining. He brought a a container took all oil out in it and refilled it after...also as all this happend after coming home i happend to check my engine oil( I KNOW I SHULDVE DONE IT AT MECHANIC) at i realized that my engine oil level is abt 2 cm up the top level mark... and i been driving around for abt 3k km's like that... shuld i be worried

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
Along the same lines of thinking, "all fluids must be oil".
These are the same idiots that will put oil in your brake fluid reservoir, completely ruining every bit of the brake system.

Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
You ALREADY drove 3k on that oil. It might have been perfectly correct when the oil change was done. You did not check. You don't have a leg to stand on at this time.
The oil could be diluted with fuel for all we know, causing it to only appear to be too full.
I'll suggest you just get the oil changed and start fresh with a known quantity.
Re: car jerks when shifting from R to D
Sounds like he didn't change it... but, should be monitoring it regardless. Just pop the dipstick every time you get gas. It's a bit overkill but you know your covered/
