ima, cel, and mat. required lights on
ima, cel, and mat. required lights on
Hi all, my name is jon and I am new to this forum. A little background I have an 03 civic hybrid. I love this car its been awesome until a few weeks ago when all three light came on. First it was the ima then the cell and along came the m.r.
I have not pulled any codes but I will have it scanned tomorrow to know a little more. So my question just *** general knowledge, has anyone experienced the same issue?
Thanks everyone and glad to be on the forum

How many miles?
Do you know what the warranty is on your car?
How about the warranty that covers some of the hybrid parts of the car?
Are you aware that Honda just extended the warranty on Hybrid (IMA) batteries?
GO TO A DEALER.

Need more info?
Customer Service - Official Honda Web Site
Your local Honda dealer is the first stop for any questions or concerns about your U.S. Honda vehicle. This includes product recall and campaign information.
--------------------------------------------
Maint Req'd light is not related to any other lights. It is only turned on by mileage and is to be reset when the oil change is completed.
=====================================
IF your car is not covered by the warranty extension, or the problem turns out to be something OTHER than the IMA battery:
Read engine codes.
A fault in the IMA system will always turn on the CEL.
Scan the CEL for codes.
If you find a P1600 or P1601, those mean there are codes in the IMA system, and it needs attention.
A DangerZone type code reader will not get you any info from the IMA system.
This ain't DIY territory at all.
You need someone that can not only ACCESS the codes, you need someone that can DIAGNOSE, and REPAIR the problems.
This ain't something just any Schmo with tools should touch.
You need a shop that is heavily invested in either Hondas or Hybrids.
99% of Hybrids go to the dealer for any work related to the hybrid powertrain.
Hopefully you have a good dealer with knowledgeable personnel.

Re: ima, cel, and mat. required lights on
The ol hybrid has 165k on it, we bought in va. And then moved to wva so I'm not sure if we are still covered yet alone covered in another the state.
I'm gonna run it out to have the codes scanned tomorrow at advanced auto however i will have to call the dealer to find out what's covered and what's not worst case we weigh out our options and decide to keep it and fix it or trade it in on something else....hopefully a ridge line...lol
Thanks a bunch
I will post back with codes

If your car originally had 10/150 on the IMA battery it was increased to 11 years/170,100 miles.
You could be barely in or out of this time frame, so get to a dealer ASAP.

Warranty does not care if you are the 4th owner, nor where you live.
Warranty covers THE CAR, no matter where in the USA it is.
(As long as you don't have a "branded" title (salvage, etc.).
however i will have to call the dealer to find out what's covered and what's not
You might be able to find more info ahead of time by calling the 1-800 customer assistance number in the owners manual. It's also on the Honda website.
