Manifold Support Bracket

Hi all. I'm new here, and I'm pretty new to working on Honda vehicles.

I'm replacing the exhaust manifold on a 2003 Honda Civic LX. There is a support bracket below the cat that I need to unbolt before I can take the old manifold off. Anyone have any tips on how to get to the nut to take it off? It is next to the second emission sensor below the cat and I can't seem to get a wrench in there.

The only thing I haven't tried is removing the sensor to see if that would give me a little more room to access the bolt. Anyone have any suggestions?

Unbolt it from the engine block instead. Once the whole thing is out of the car, you can remove the bracket from the cat.

Just a guess. HTH

Re: Manifold Support Bracket

Have you tried going at it from underneath? I don't have an DX/LX, so I couldn't tell you, but this parts drawing makes me think it'd be easier to access from the bottom

**clue**

I bet dude is trying to put a wrench on what he's calling the nut.....that is welded to the flange and will never ever turn.

You must remove the bolt from underneath the car (bottom bolt #10 in the pic).
Or take the bracket off of the block.

It's been quite a while since I've had an OEM exhaust manifold. I forgot it had the nuts welded to one of the manifold-downpipe flanges
