Can you drive without 2nd gear!?

Hey everyone,
I have a 2001 7thgen Si -Manual Trans- (EX to all my american friends) and other than the problem with the front shocks I have had a terrible time with the transmission, specifically the synchro.
Here's the deal; at first when I got the car back in November of 2000 I noticed that every once in awhile the car would not stick in 2nd gear. Now the car will not stay in 2nd at all! It becomes a little dicy trying to cut through a busy intersection only to lose the gear...
The problem is with the bushings and the synchro. Don't get me wrong I have a Solo short throw mechanism in the car and the shift is amazingly smooth.
Please note that thse paets are on BACK ORDER they took me three weeks to get from Honda along with the front shock.
Honda is aware of this issue apparantly and didn't even need to inspect the transmission to diagnose the problem.

Later all,

Mike in Ottawa

You should be able to hold it in there if you have to. My 01 was particullarly bad with this problem (do a search). But i could always hold it in second if i needed it there, other than that it was 1st to 6500 then 3rd....

How long did your original struts last before they started leaking, and were they both leaking or just one? I had mine left front one replaced at Dow Honda recently. Took them 6 weeks to get the new part in, but not their fault cuz it was on backorder everywhere. Which dealer do you deal with?

make Honda supply you with a loaner till they fix your car, tell them that you don't feel safe. This way the problem will get taken care of more quickly and you can even save some miles on your engine. This should all be covered under warranty, they did it for my civic when my seat harness went. Give it a try worst that could happen is they say no.

My ex-bro-in law is the sales manager of Lallier Hinda in Hull. I just leave my ride there and take his for the day. My ride goes in Wednesday for some fun stuff and I get the new SIR for the day!
It took about a year for the leaks to begin, I've had both fronts replaced.
Can someone tell me when my status gets updated. It keeps saying that I haven't posted anything but I have been on here all day!

All message counters have been turned off cuz of too many people post-whoring. It's being tracked though... you just can't see it.
