CEL codes
CEL codes
I have 2 codes that only seem to pop up when it raining, or when am using cruise control/ going constant speed. For a while after I bought the car It didn't have the fender splash guard, water was getting all over the battery and fuse/relay box there so I could see this maybe being part of the issue. Going to try and get new ones though, they don't fit right, and the bottom and belt one that I am still missing.
P0420 - assuming upstream O2 sensor, will have to replace after i tear the head apart, blows coolant out the resivior so Im gonna so head work, s1 cam, timing, etc. in the next 2 months
P1298 - Electrical Load Detector Circuit High Input...Not sure on this or how to test anything with it
Is an 02 EX 5sp 118k miles

Re: CEL codes
P0420 is a cat, not an O2 sensor.
ELD code is an ELD.
Known problem, replace it.
MSRP is a whopping $30.25 USD.
Here is the where, how, and the part number to get from the dealer: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/th...1_tsb_1298.pdf

Ok, I didn't look at my sheets right, but might be a good time to change out the header then, been thinking bout the DC header and have a high flow cat installed, but I'm not sure yet, but its also about time to start my build. My dealer has the ELD in stock so ill get that tomorrow. At least its not something I have to trace back. Thank you.

Re: CEL codes
If you have emissions inspections where you live then you can pretty well forget about passing with that hi-flow cat unless you do the O2 sensor trick: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/2...on-w-pics.html

Re: CEL codes
One of the things I love about the midwest is no emissions checks at all. But, I really dont like the idea of completly being irresponsible and doing the DC header with that test pipe. So even with a high flow cat I still might need to do the 02 sensor trick to not get a CEL code for it?

When the idiot light comes on with a cat code, you'll have your answer.
