2004 Civic DX Air Conditioning HELP!! :)
2004 Civic DX Air Conditioning HELP!! :)
Hi, first off thank you for checking out my thread. My 2004 civic DX is blowing warm air. The condenser fan is running as it should, when I push the AC button inside the car it turns green and you can hear the compressor clutch engage, the compressor clutch is engaged and the compressor is turning, suction pressure is 50psi, high side pressure is 50-60psi (ambient temp is 80 degrees F). The condenser fan runs continuously when I engage the AC button in the vehicle, the compressor does not cycle on or off it runs continuously. If the suction/discharge pressures are basically equal does that mean my compressor is bad? This is throwing me for a loop, any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Static pressures on a non-running system should be near what the ambient temperature is, so if ambient is 80 and your low and high sides are at 50-60, you are low on freon to start with.
If the engine has been running, then add some pressure for the additional heat in the engine compartment.
So it sounds low, to start with.....
If pressures don't change at all when the compressor kicks on, the compressor is not pumping.
If there is some change in pressures when the compressor engages, the expansion valve is likely wide open... It is worth adding some freon to see if pressures go towards normal as the charge comes up.
Recover/Evacuate/Recharge with 550 grams of R-134a (or whatever the underhood sticker says).
Re-evaluate pressures after charging with the correct amount of freon.

Thank you ezone for your reply. When you say "the compressor kicks on" are you talking about when I push the "AC" button on the dash and I hear the car bog down slightly, when the clutch engages? When I push the AC button and it turns green, the clutch stays engaged and the compressor does not cycle on and off.
