Bought my 03 Civic three months ago, after I got it, I noticed a grinding noise coming from the engine.i tracked it down to the tranny. Took it into the dealership where I bought it, they said a tooth broke off and they put a tranny in that had 70k miles. Drove it for three months, up until now and noticed the same grinding noise about a week ago. They gave me a 3k/ three month warranty on it. If it would of happened next month I would have had to pay out of pocket.

Anyways they are putting another rebuilt tranny and they said this time it is the bearings that went out. So this will be my 3rd tranny.

Anyone else have problems with their tranny like me?

Quite a few people have had manual transmission problems in the 01-05 Civics with decreasing problems nearing the 04-05 years. I had a dud in my 01.

I'd say it was just bad luck if they were junkyard finds but two failed Honda rebuilts is just disconcerting.

Just keep getting them replaced. Also, make sure you get that 3month/3K warranty extended from the date of that last transmission installed.
