Civic Repair & selling advice request
Civic Repair & selling advice request
I'm looking for advice. I own a 2002 Tan Civic EX with a few problems and wondered whether I should: 1) Sell it as is, 2) pay someone to fix the problems, 3) Try to fix some of the issues myself. Here are the problems:
- The air conditioning no longer works. I tried to get it charged and this is not the problem.
- The odometer/speedometer/cruise control stopped working approximately 10,000 miles back at 148,695 miles.
- The car is a bit beat up. Scrapes in the corner. Sap fell on the car from being parked under a pine tree so I used steel wool and messed up the clear coat.
I was in college so I didn't treat the car great. Now I'm a bit more mature and trying to determine what to do with this vehicle as I move on. The clutch, transmission have been replaced.

Re: Civic Repair & selling advice request
I have a feeling your best option is sell it as is. I doubt that you are able to fix the A/C or paint so that leaves out option 3. Paying someone to fix the A/C and paint could cost more than the car is worth and there is no guarantee something else won't go out.
You should be able to get a free estimate for the paint and body work. Getting an estimate for the A/C may be harder. Once you know how much to repair those two items and you look up how much Civics sell for in your area you should be able to make a decision.
