A/C problem?
Okay so I'm not very car savvy but I'm having an issue with alot of electrical things. The main one being the a/c since it's getting hot out. A while back the motor for my air went out so my dad and uncle hot wired it to bypass something where I now have air flow. Although I can't control the speed, there's a toggle switch and it comes on full blast or nothing. So after that I noticed my a/c light stopped coming on for a while but since it was winter I didn't really care too much at the moment. Now the light is back on but when i press it the air is not getting any cooler. I bought a can of the stuff to recharge it with and my dad said when he plugged it in to the low pressure port it jumped to danger level and wouldn't release. I've had the car for two years and haven't put anything into the a/c so it shouldn't be that full, and yes the car was running when this was done. Any ideas on what's going on? Please help. Thanks.

Re: A/C problem?
One needs to understand how the systems are supposed to work, and work together..... and why the AC no longer works because of the fault that caused the fan to stop running.
The AC no longer works because of the fault that caused the fan to stop running.
Here's a C&P directly from one Honda document:
Got an A/C compressor that doesn’t work? Before
you start any troubleshooting, make sure the
heater blower motor works at all speeds. The
heater or climate control panel monitors the
heater blower motor operation and doesn’t let the
compressor clutch engage if the blower motor
isn’t working properly.
Remove the toggle switch and everything else that wasn't factory, and fix the darn thing the right way. That means NO hacking!
The AC will then resume operating IF it still can.
Yeah, it is THAT easy.
CLUE: I bet it just needed the blower power transistor replaced.

Keep your uncle and your dad away from the car.

Re: A/C problem?
Okay so pretty much it's a bigger problem than just the fan not blowing? Is the blower power transistor replacement expensive roughly guessing? Thanks for the help I'll try to keep that in mind.

No.
Your biggest problem (IMHO) is your dad and uncle hacking the car. They may mean well, but.........
The original problem was relatively simple and would have been easy to fix. (It probably still is easy to fix, but you need to get rid of all the hacked wiring and toggle switch, and restore the mess to how it was originally.)
Now, apparently someone (that still has no idea how it all works) has also tampered with the freon (or attempted to), and we have no idea what possible complications may have resulted from that.
So: The first problem-- that got a hacked repair-- had also caused other issues, and those were also treated with more hacking (or attempts), all because someone didn't understand how it all works.

You can replace it yourself if you can turn a screwdriver....and lay on the floor of the car, and find it.

Part #8, $45 USD here: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...=HEATER+BLOWER
Thanks for the help I'll try to keep that in mind.
YW, I think.

Re: A/C problem?
Well the freon never actually got used once he attached it it never pumped anything out so that part wasn't messed with. I have a friend that's a master mechanic so I'll talk to him about it.

Re: A/C problem?
I already know why the AC quit.
You need to fix the blower fan PROPERLY first.
Then see if the AC will run like it should.
