Best way to replace a knock sensor
Best way to replace a knock sensor
Couples weeks ago my engine light went on with a knock sensor circuit code meaning that either something was wrong with the wiring of the knock sensor or the sensor was faulty. Put some dielectric grease on the connection and the light went off only to come back on again a couple weeks later. I think the censor is bad so I ordered a new knock sensor but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience putting one in. Did you remove the oil filter and try to get at it from underneath the car or did you have to remove the intake manifold and go from the top? Also any other tips would be great.

I looked up an 01 since that's what is in your profile.
The service manual says to yank the intake off to reach the knock sensor.

Wonderful.... thanks. If I take the intake manifold off, do I have to disconnect any hoses first or does it just bolt right up like the exhaust manifold? I assume I'll need a gasket for the intake?
