Oil Pan removal

I got a oil leak on the oil pan, need to replace the gasket.
While under the car, I noticed that the transmission is in the way....
Do I have to remove the transmission to get to the Oil Pan? That's kinda silly...
Thank you : )

They wouldn't build it like that.

Re: Oil Pan removal

Seriously. They don't build them like that. The oil pan will come straight down after you get all the junk out of the way.

You don't touch the trans. There might be a cast aluminum piece that needs removed, but you don't remove the trans.

Try a service manual.

Re: Oil Pan removal

Thank you ezone, you are right on the nose on the big aluminum piece that is in the way. I always thought that's part of the transmission.

And I need a little help on finding info on how to remove the "big aluminum" piece that is in the way.
I have the service manual and the haynes manual... and I can't find the info from both.
Haynes don't even mention the aluminum piece. And the service manual... well, if it is there, I can't find it...

Re: Oil Pan removal

Sorry man, I can't hold your hand through this. You need to get a flashlight and crawl under it and find the bolts that hold it on. There are at least 4, maybe more.
